The news this week is filled with what appears either to be farse or fantasy. This seems like a fitting backdrop to Giving Day 2025.

  • I invite you to focus on some critical issues.
  • I invite you to say no to the unlimited chaos.
  • I invite you to settle down and think about things that matter.

Say yes to seeing how science AND faith matter.

I am not a scientist. My husband, the theologian, Greg Cootsona is not a scientist. But, our world, the one we live in is surrounded by the grandeur of God. We see a God who created science.

Christians are very serious about our faith in Jesus Christ. His incarnation is key to our salvation. Incarnation grounds us in the present place and time that is our world. A world oozing with science in the earth, the air, the sea, the stars. It is this world that tells us about God and the one in which we live by the Spirit to bring all things back to him.

So, that’s enough of my science and faith sermon. What I want to ask you to do today is invest in a tangible, practical, spirit led project called Science for the Church. We need to understand that science and scientific discovery is part of our relationship with God. Greg and his partners build pragmatic tools, discover research that tells of the glory of God, and inspire others to see how these two worlds work together.

May 7 and 8—this week—we have an opportunity to invest in the intersection of faith and science through Science for the Church. Will you join me in supporting this critical work?
