$5,000 Goal

The mission of Christ Kitchen is to provide a safe, healthy environment where women in poverty learn work and life skills while breaking through barriers to employment. We envision a community where no woman lives in poverty due to lack of skills, abusive relationships, or reliance on government or unhealthy substances. Helping low-income women learn the love of Christ and achieve emotional and mental stability as they become self-reliant and Christ-reliant is the primary goal of our ministry. As we graduate women into sustainable employment and reunite them with their children, we reduce the load on our foster care and welfare systems, and increase the economic base of our community. While the incentive to earn money brings women to Christ Kitchen, it is the spiritual and emotional care that sustains them while they learn how to become employable, self-sufficient and Christ-reliant.

The women at Christ Kitchen are currently living at or below the poverty level. Many have children, who may or may not be living with them. They face employment barriers and life challenges, such as lack of job experience, reentry into society after incarceration, prostitution, human trafficking, physical and mental abuse, addiction, and untreated mental health issues. Through the production and sale of gourmet dried food products, full-service catering, food truck, cafe and coffee house, this ministry enables women to learn to work, to become employable, to support themselves and their families. When women graduate from Christ Kitchen, they are no longer reliant on government programs, any substance, or destructive relationships. They are confident, productive, contributing members of the community.
